I find the work of Fennella Elms to be absolutely stunning. I am most drawn to the series "Edges." The pieces are fluid and fragile. With simple and repetitive pattern, the artist creates complicated and intricate moments. The pieces make me think of biologial cross sections, microscopic views of cells, and topography all at once.
I also find the language she used in her artist statement interesting. She talks about handling clay to be "Inquisitive discoveries" and that the firing process preserves "Intimate details in fragile permanence."
